An extremely exciting opportunity emerged for me this month in the form of participation at the group exhibition at The Holy Art Gallery alongside many other artists in different stages of their careers. My paintings titled ‘Catharsis‘ and the portrait of Maud Wagner were selected for this occasion. Offer included the chance for having these two small pieces featured in their lovely contemporary space in London and also one artwork of my choice streamed on their high-resolution screen in digital gallery in Athens. I have sobered out of my initial euphoria and dedication to participate on both opportunities after examining depressingly low numbers at my money account, followed by remembering that my passport has this spring expired and unlike in sweet pre-Brexit times when I was flying to Britain and back jut using my ID, it will not be that easy this time. So much to that.
While secretly blaming Boris for all my misery (also for not being able to attend Rammstein concert in Cardiff in June which I will never forgive him) I have explained my cliche situation of being a starving artist in the middle of the move between the flats in overpriced Berlin area to surprisingly understanding Gallery team and agreed with them on participating long-distance. The team of organisers has been really kind and promised to ship my pictures back as soon as the exhibition is over once I send them return label.
Given the fact that I was not able to attend in person I did not hope to see much of the exhibition, however the whole event has been so well documented, that at the end of the day it felt almost like being there physically! I have even gotten to know many of the other artists online over the instagram and exchanged few messages with some of them. Ellie from ells_portrait was also so nice to take a photo of my paintings there and send it to me. It has been one of the nicest group exhibition experiences I have ever had with a real sense of camaraderie and genuine support and interest from the organisers. My big thanks to The Holy Art Gallery for such a lovely experience!
