Artist Statement
I explore the space between light and silence.
Each painting begins with a mood rather than a plan. A glimpse of something half-remembered. Light and shadow become languages of memory, and each painting begins as an attempt to hold a moment that would otherwise disappear.
I’m drawn to transitional hours. Dusk, fog, reflections on water, when the visible world begins to blur and reveal its emotional truth. Whether I work in oil, mixed media, or collage, I search for that fragile balance between clarity and dissolution.
My practice is rooted in tonal harmony, but I often experiment with form and surface, letting each series find its own rhythm. What connects them is a fascination with stillness. With the quiet architecture of time.
Biography
Marketa Cenker, born in Prague, Czech Republic, is a professional artist currently based in Germany.
After completing her university studies, she relocated to Great Britain, where she lived and worked for four years.
Since 2020 she has been residing and creating in Germany.
Cenker’s works are held in private collections across Europe, including Germany, the Czech Republic, Belgium, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Ukraine, France, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland, as well as in the United States and Canada.
