With this work I sort of wanted to pay homage to Van Gogh and his Sunflowers. But in my sort of an opposing way. His Sunflowers are shining with energy, warmth and passion. My roses were intended to feel colder while remaining lively. I absolutely admire work of Van Gogh. I hope it is not disgraceful to attempt a variation. It was my way of paying respect.
I started on yellow underpaint and improvised. I love white roses. They were from my boyfriend, whenever he went shopping, he also brought flowers, so we had more beautiful living room.
